A Tribute to Lizzie and James

LIZZIE  April  4, 2003- September  7, 2018  AND  JAMES  November  6, 2002-  September 7, 2018

Lizzie came to me as a rescue dog with James on March 3, 2014. (Marietta  died on February 20, 2014.)  James and Lizzie have been together all their lives. I renamed her Lizzie, after my late mother. James was given a regal name. Harry was to keep them company. The names fitted!

Lizzie was reserved at first, but soon found her feet to become Miss Personality. She asserted her authority and she WAS the boss of my 2 other dogs.  If someone came to my place that Lizzie did not like, then she barked consistently at them.

Lizzie loved her morning cuddles and belly rubs; she could get down off the bed with some speed . Food and Lizzie always went together. I nicknamed her Lizzie Mayhem.

Lizzie became ill on March 28, 2017 with stomach issues. She recovered from her near -death experience to live on with her special diet.

Lizzie became seriously ill late in the week of August 27, 2018. A blood test taken by the vet on August 30, 2018, revealed kidney failure. Lizzie was put on a drip at the vets on Friday August 31,2018. I prayed that she would be fine, but it was not to be.

Lizzie was an elderly lady of 15, and her time was up. She was telling me that she was tired.

James was a perfect gentleman. I called him Gentleman James, as he had such a lovely temperament.

James showed signs of dementia in late June 2018; he was confused at his water bowl  and increasingly had difficulty  in getting down my rear step, amongst other things.   James  however,  sparked up  for a couple of months.   He felt for his long -time companion, Lizzie when she became seriously ill.  James had a heart condition, bad arthritis in his lower back, dementia and I believe that he had a stroke.

My first children’s book –The Adventures of Miss Hoity Toity and Lizzie , to be published in 2019, will be dedicated to Lizzie and James.

I miss Lizzie’s beautiful lovable, mischievous  and adorable personality. She was a wonderful companion to James over 15 years, and in the past four years to Harry. James was a quiet dog, who loved Lizzie’s company . Lizzie often rested her head on James’ bottom!  I miss James’ loving presence.

Treasured memories of my two wonderful  Cavaliers.

Your loving Mum.
